Huntington Story

Janice Jones is 53 years old, she lives in Barstow, California interviewed by Tammy Rye.

"Jones was eating pork chops in the back of her motor home, when her dog knocked her 9mm handgun off a seat," Rye said.

Jones got shot in the leg, and the bullet when through her leg, and through the side of her vehicle.

"It could have been worse, the bullet hit two inches from the gas tank," Rye said.

Jones was transported to the Huntington Beach Hospital, and her dog, Tombo, was transported to Huntington Beach Animal Control officers.

"The dog seemed to be malnourished, accruing to Janet Ngo, on of the animal control officers, and had fresh cigarette burns on its forehead," Ngo said.

Ngo indicates that her office will be looking at filling out animal abuse charges against Jones.

"Officers cited Jones for expired plates and the country's district attorney office was considering whether to charge her in relation to the gun accident, Jones didn't have a permit for the gun," Rye said.
